About Der Wald

Liu Xu (柳絮)’s name means "catkins," those soft, floating seeds that dance in the wind. Perhaps it’s no surprise, then, that she has always felt a deep connection with nature. Born in Jingdezhen (景德镇), the town famous for its centuries-old tradition of fine porcelain, Liu Xu grew up surrounded by artistry and craftsmanship.

Inspired by the rich heritage of her hometown, Liu Xu founded Der Wald (meaning "The Forest" in German) in 2017. Through her work, she explores various materials as a way to express her love for the forest and nature, capturing the beauty of the natural world as she sees it.
